Bacterial Culture
Nest Swabs are ideal for bacterial culture. For instance, a study demonstrated Nest Flocked Swab's effectiveness in determining S. aureus prevalence in both microbiology and non-microbiology labs. Additionally, Nest Flocked Swabs are compatible with downstream molecular testing.

Viral Culture
ITM enabled the first isolation and Next-Generation Sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 from a Korean patient, proving its effectiveness for both viral culture and sequencing.

Mycobacterial Culture
Nest Inactivation Transport Media facilitates rapid digestion and decontamination of respiratory samples for Mycobacteria detection through both culture and molecular assays. Meanwhile, Nest Flocked Swabs supports the maintenance, transport, and recovery of certain nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) and Nocardia species.

RT-PCR
Respiratory viruses and immunological markers can be analyzed via RT-PCR after collection with Nest ITM or VTM and stored at room temperature, 4°C, or -80°C. SARS-CoV-2 RNA has been successfully detected for up to 7 days at room temperature and up to 14 days under refrigerated conditions when collected with VTM and Nest Flocked Swabs. 

Filmarray Multiplex
Human Adenovirus can be detected in tracheal aspirates using Filmarray multiplex PCR respiratory panels following VTM collection. VTM has also proven effective for rapid, automated SARS-CoV-2 detection.

DFA/IFA
Respiratory syncytial virus detection using Direct Immunofluorescence Assay (DFA) and SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection using Fluorescent Immunoassays (FIA) are achievable with samples collected using Nest Flocked Swabs and eluted in VTM.

Immunoassay
Nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal samples collected in VTM are suitable for SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection. VTM is compatible with various rapid immunochromatographic tests.

TMA
Pan-microarray technology enables the detection of respiratory bacteria and viruses from nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal samples collected with Nest Flocked Swabs in viral transport media.

LAMP
Specimens collected and preserved using Nest Flocked Swabs are compatible with Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP), enabling rapid diagnosis of respiratory syncytial virus infections. LAMP assays can also detect Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a key cause of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), from samples collected with VTM.
